METAPHOR AS A COGNITIVE INSTRUMENT IN INSTITUTIONAL TEXTS

Abstract
This paper is the result of text linguistic research of the role of metaphor in text genre announcement. This text genre is an assertive text type, subtype informative and it performs communication in the institution Croatian Chamber of Commerce subdivision Chamber of Commerce Rijeka. Announcements are highly structured and standardized texts but they also show a high presence of metaphors which are indicators of management conceptualization. The corpora analysis shows that management concepts are interpreted metaphorical in order to create a cognitive model of understanding employed and management in formal institutions, and that is reflected in business, creation of profit and achieving goals of the entire institution or organization.
