Abstract

In November of 2024, the first speleoarchaeological survey was conducted on Zlarin Island. The surface layers of two caves, Njivica and Pećniška, were methodologically surveyed. Archaeological material was found in the latter. In Pećniška, fragments of pottery, lithics, and marine malacofauna were collected, while remains of dry-stone construction and thick sediment of animal droppings. Although the results of the material analysis presented in this paper are preliminary, they confirm Pećniška as the first known speleoarchaeological site on Zlarin Island.
