Abstract

The Association of writers and painters of the Požega-Slavonia County “Matko Peić” was founded on May 14, 2014, with the aim to bring together citizens sharing ambitions toward poetry, prose, and painting. Following the initiative of Ana Pirović, adviser for culture at the Požega-Slavonia County, about twenty enthusiasts, academically educated creators, amateurs, and art lovers gathered in order to create the association. The association was named after Matko Peić, a citizen of Požega, an academic, painter, writer, and art pedagogue, in whose footsteps the members have now been following for the ninth year. These members, professionals and amateurs, create together, write for adults and children, and paint. Their works are published in numerous collections of poems, novels and plays and shown in individual or joint exhibitions. The “Matko Peić” Association has published four collaborative collections of works in the nine years of its existence. The last one, titled “Wanderers colored with love,” is dedicated to Matko Peić.
