Abstract

The article starts from the experience of contesting theologians in the Church and from the disseminated opinion that theology is harmful to faith and useless in general. After a fragmentary overview of the discourse about God in the New Testament and the development of theology in the early Church, the importance of the theology of personal religious experience is emphasized. Theologians nowadays have a similar task as theologians throughout history: to advocate an efficient God in personal and world history from their conviction and their context, in a new way. At the same time, Christian theologians are believers in God, who manifested himself completely for man in Jesus Christ, in particular for the oppressed and sinners. The theologian is hence the advocate of man. Particular focus is given to dialogic theology, which has its foundations in the most difficult commandment of Jesus - to love the enemy. This means that theology is a speech about God and man in the way of Jesus, that is, respecting someone else’s, even hostile, epistemology.
