Abstract

The paper addresses three anniversaries related to Marko Marulić and the ways they were commemorated in the writer’s hometown. The first is the 400th anniversary of the completion of Judita in 1901, marked by a full day of celebration, including a gathering at the People’s Square, a mass at St. Francis Church, and ceremonies at the municipal theater. Next is the 400th anniversary of his death in 1924 and 1925, highlighted by the unveiling of a statue of Marulić created by Ivan Meštrović. Lastly, the 500th anniversary of his birth in 1950 was celebrated with a three-day event. These anniversaries underscore Marulić’s enduring presence and affirm his importance in the Culture of Remembrance of the people of Split.
