Abstract

At the end of the last century, in 1991, the British group CandoCo was founded,
which in an incredibly radical and provocative way expanded the perception of dance art
and opened a dialogue between dance and disability. CandoCo has been a guest in Zagreb
since 1998 at the 15th Dance Week Festival, where it attracted great attention and provoked
contradictory reactions. Inspired by the works and educated in the workshops of this
revolutionary company, Iva Nerina Sibila launched the IMRC / Diverto dance collective
in Zagreb in 2012, which remains unique on the Croatian professional dance scene for its
artistic collaboration of dancers with and without physical disabilities. This paper will look
at the high achievements of the Diverto dance theatre collective, which in ten years of its
existence has produced several brilliant miniatures, as well as full-length performances,
the first of which, Nukleon (2016), occupies a special place.
