Abstract
Digital dermatitis is a hoof skin disorder that mainly affects dairy cows. The causative agents of this disease are
bacteria from the genus Treponema. Affected animals move less, which impacts milk production and their reproduction.
For this reason, it is necessary to conduct timely control of digital dermatitis in order to be able to react
in time and start treatment. Treatment consists of hoof correction, cleaning and local application of medicinal
substances in the form of ointments, gels, sprays or baths. Cows with digital dermatitis should be kept on dry and clean bedding, but also separated from healthy ones. In relation to digital dermatitis, great attention should be paid to prevention. Prevention consists of maintaining the hygiene of the stable and the place where the animals live, and conducting preventive hoof baths. This disease is a major problem on some farms, so it is necessary to pay great attention to it.
