Overview of the Musical Heritage of Crikvenica

Abstract
This article gives a brief overview of the musical past of Crikvenica and its distinguished participants over the past four centuries. The author depicted his findings about the local musical tradition within the framework of two entities: church music and secular music. The oldest preserved document is the Antifonal Rimskog brevijara from the year 1687. compiled by the monk Nicolao Radossevich. The oldest known musical instrument are the Pauline pipe organs, for which it was determined in the year 1688. to be located in the choir of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, but have not been preserved. It is assumed that the existing pipe organs were procured in the year 1868. Among the secular traditional musical instruments, the oldest one is the mijeh (bellows), mih, which was manufactured in 1879. and of which only the wooden parts were preserved. The author also mentions numerous participants in the musical past of Crikvenica who performed during certain periods. He lists the names of choirs and instrumental ensembles, as well as individual names of choirmasters and directors of tambura and wind instrument ensembles, as well as partially the names of their members.
