Abstract

The author writes about the first arrival of Franciscans in Crikvenica in 1926 and their persistent work on the construction of monasteries and a newer, larger church on the site of the previous church. The activities of the Franciscans in Crikvenica increased over the years, and in 2001 was crowned with the establishment of the new Crikvenica Parish Church of St. Anthony of Padua. The author also touches upon the attempts at opening Crikvenica's first high school and the donator Leopold Ivančić, and partially mentions the history of the third order in our regions. The article is one part of the author's diploma work, the first part of which, the Construction of the Monastery and Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Crikvenica, was published in the 13th issue of Vinodol's almanac collection of papers. The author's primary source of information was the Chronicle of Crikvenica's Franciscan monastery.
