Abstract

When we speak or write about some well-known figures, we need to separate their creativity from their private lives, which do not reflect them as artists, but as men, particularly humanists. In fact we can see that human point in the life of the miniaturist Klović from his letters, especially those he sent to his patron Cardinal Aleksandar Farnese, with whom he had a special relationship with as an artist as well as a man, whom he appealed for help from, not only for himself but for others, especially when it came to talented young artists, such as the great Greek-Spanish painter El Greco. In fact it is in these letters, which are published here, that we see that Klović with all his glory and greatness of being an artist still remained above all an ordinary man with much human virtue.
