Sažetak

The article investigates a relation between the renown Croatian noble family of Krajač of Senj with its Crikvenica branch. Literature recorded numerous members of this family. The first to be mentioned were the nobleman Martin Krajač and his son Matko of Steničnjak, who relocated from the area around Neretva river to Steničnjak, today in Karlovačka County. Krajač family was granted a title of nobility in 1396 by the decree of the Parliament of Kingdoms of Croatia and Slavonia. Starting with the 1550s, frequent Turkish raids forced Croatian population to flee the frontier regions. Apparently, Krajač family found shelter in Modruška County, in a village of Ladvič above Crikvenica. In the early 19th century one of three brothers, Tomo, left for Senj and probably took with him a charter with a coat of arms, intent on continuing the noble lineage. The other two brothers, Ivan and Mate, remained on Crikvenica estate, pursuing agriculture and crafts.
