CHIEF PHYSICIAN STANKO JURDANA DIALOGUE ON THE OCCASION OF THE 40 YEARS OF THALASSOTHERAPIA IN CRIKVENICA

A dialogue with a chief physician Stanko Jurdana, M.Sc., an exceptional doctor who in 1960 founded the Institute for Thalassotherapy at Therapia hotel in Crikvenica. Later on he served as a chief of entire medical department at new Thalassotherapia hospital Crikvenica, until his retirement in 1989. The dialogue was led on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Thalassotherapia in Crikvenica. The chief physician Stanko Jurdana published over 60 scientific works from the domains of otolaryngology, tourist medicine, health tourism and the history of medicine. Besides being a honorary member of the Croatian Medical Association, he is an active mountaineer and a member of several expert and cultural societies, in particular the Ecological Society of Crikvenica where he serves as a secretary and vice-president of. In 2004, the City of Crikvenica awarded him with Life Award for his extraordinary achievements and significant contribution to development and renown of Crikvenica, especially the marketing in a sphere of health tourism and for stimulating the related activities. In a dialogue with Stanko Jurdana we learn more of his career, beginnings and development of Thalassotherapia, the establishing medical institutions and his reflections on modern medicine.
