FEATURE FOR HISTORY OF TOURISM IN CRIKVENICA: to Commemorate the 120th Anniversary

Sažetak
Tourism in Crikvenica documents over 120 years, and its beginning dates from the time when in Europe the benefits of sea, sun and clean air were discovered, firstly due to health needs, and later due to recreational needs. The richer layers of the AustroHungarian society had the opportunity to use these benefits of the sea, and therefore were among the first who discovered it here, in Croatia’s Primorje, foremost in the region of Crikvenica. With this the tourism in Crikvenica was established, and through about hundred years became well known and attractive to hundreds of thousands of people, who have used it. In the article the authors give a detailed review of how it all occurred, who was responsible for it, which achievements were realized, as well as how in the couple of postwar decades a lot of mistakes concerning the concept and development of tourism in Crikvenica have been made.
