UNPUBLISHED DOCUMENTS ABOUT THE LORDSHIP OF LUPOGLIANOLUPOGLAV IN THE FIFTEENTH CENTURY

Abstract
Four unpublished documents are presented regarding the lordship of Lupogliano-
Lupoglav, in Istria and relating to a civil suit concerning parts of the inheritance of
that castle. They, and in particular a summary of the last will of Ivan Kružić (1525-
1580) containing a family tree, offer new knowledge about the testator’s family and
primarily about Margarita married Tunzler who took the place of Ivan in the effective
lordship of that castle. The documents were read, transcribed and, those in Latin,
translated. They could in some respects clarify, in others further complicate the
outline of the hypotheses and data so far appeared, perhaps denying some of them
and confirming or integrating others. The characters mentioned in the documents
presented were then contextualized in a brief overview.
