Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to determine the differences between age groups and men and women in the labour market participation, the position in division of labour, form of employment and quality of employment. The findings are based on the analysis of the micro data from the Labour Force Survey for the period between 1996 and 2006. Analysed groups differ in most dimensions of the participation in the world of work, and there is some evidence of the trends of divergence. As well, he results point to heterogeneousness of the outcomes within the age groups themselves, and particularly within the population of men and women. These findings represent a starting point for further analyses that would determine the influence of intervening factors on the occurrences of the presented outcomes for these groups in the world of work, primarily the influence of education, but also other life circumstances and personal preferences. Only the understanding of these mechanisms can enable the adequate education and labour market policies that would efficiently lead to the reduction of risks of social exclusion and the improvement of the quality of working life in Croatia.
