Abstract

People in the Vinodol region used water from wells or rain-water tanks. Later systems of collective acqueducts were built, first for the town Novi (1884.) and then for the region of Crikvenica, so called Tribalj acqueduct (beginning of the 20. century) and finally the big system which used water from Žrnovnica (exploatation started in 1932.), with some reconstruction works was protracted to Crikvenica. This system played an important role in the development of tourism in the region, since water is one of the main factors of development. As the region grows larger the capacity of this resource will not last and the whole system won’t give enough water, so other meassures will be necessary. This article explains the development of water supplies employment in the region, offering facts to confirm the assertions.
