LITERAL AND HUMAN IDENTITY OF MATE DVORNIČIĆ

Sažetak
Mate Dvorničić was born in Vrbnik on the Island Krk on April 23rd 1886. He attanded the primary school in Krk and graduated from the high school Sušak. Then he studied theology for two years in Zadar and afterwards chose law faculty in Zagreb, Graz, Prague, Berlin and Lavov, where he finally graduated in 1913. He became a judge and lawyer after having passed the exams and for some time worked in Zagreb. He came to Crikvenica in 1922. because the climate suited his delicate health. Dvorinčić died in Vrbnik at 75. Apart from his law practice, Dvorinčić spent much time writing. He wrote poetry, short stories, atricles in Croatian and dialectal forms. Our readers may remeber his book “Leaves of Our Branches”, collection of short stroies, poetry and appendixes about Crikvenica, Selce, Drivenik, Bribir, Sveta Jelena and some villages on island Krk. His great personality and attachment to this region is shown by his own words: “It is difficult for a man who loves all the people to love equally his home and homeland. But it is great, enormous and human.”
