Abstract
The neutron escape widths of the isoscalar giant monopole resonance in 208Pb are calculated within the framework of a self-consistent model, taking into account the coupling with the continuum and with a number of 2 particles-2 holes states. Due to the latter effect, the discrepancy between experimental and theoretical results is reduced with respect to previous calculations.
