The Istria County in Times of Crises – Influence of the Works by Mijo Mirković

Abstract
The subject of this paper are the contributions of the works written by Mijo Mirković and how they can help in the creation of measures for the regional development of the Istrian County. The goal of the research is to analyze the economic development characteristics of the county in the times before, during and after the crises and to put them in connection with strengthening the resilience of the economy through his works. The main assumption of the research is that the works written by Mijo Mirković can influence regional development policies and activities of local communities/destinations’ stakeholders in an uncertain environment. The contribution is in the analysis and description of the already published research results of this author, all for the purpose of spreading knowledge about the importance and influence of historical economists on the regional economy. The limitations of the research are the lack of empirical analysis of the impact of crises on the growth and of the barriers that accompany growth, which the scientist also wrote about.
