RUŽICA FROM VINODOL

Abstract

In the Vinolol area wine making is a historic preoccupation of the population. The valley got its name from wine. But it is not only a branch of economy for the people of Vinodol through their history, but also it is a tradition, culturalhistoric heritage, symbols of historic recognition and identity. This is the reason it was decided to revive old traditions known as ”Ružice Vinodola” in a very wise way that suggests organisation of similar events. The name ”Ružica Vinodola” (eng. "Roses of Vinodol") includes programmes over several days that are spread through the area from Drvenik to Novi Vinodolski where the final part will take place. During the programme customs in winegrowing are remembered in the form of a pageant
”Ružica”. This type of project has multiple values: It evokes historical moments and is an excellent form of tourist promotion. The article contains an appendix "Rose of Vinodol Project - Grape and Vine Festival" written by ethnologist Aleksej Gotthardi-Pavlovsky.
