Abstract

The author researches the origin and history of Croatian families and has for this occasion chosen a few coats of arms that were present in Vinodol through the past. Together with the description of these coat of arms the author explains their meaning and origin. With this paper the author shows the family roots of families in our region as well as their coat of arms that are very important part of a rich Croatian heraldry. It shows short histories of certain aristocratic families and their most eminent members. The fact that these surnames and coat of arms have been preserved is a valuable historic cultural monument.
