Sažetak

With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing to prevent the virus from spreading, many employers introduced the remote work model that even after the end of the pandemic remained in practice by a segment of employers. The advantages of remote work include: cost cutting, increased efficiency and productivity, the possibility of employing better workers, and greater safety at work. The negative sides are: more difficult communication, outdated tools and inadequate equipment, and poorer monitoring of the workers, which affects their evaluation, advances in their careers, and promotion. Remote workers work from home, a library, a shared office space, a cafe, park or other place, with each worker choosing the most suitable place where they will be most productive and motivated. Still, in choosing a place to work it is important to consider the effects on the health and well-being of the workers and, as much as possible, implement the safety regulations and proper ergonomic requirements. Improper work place setup may pose numerous risks for the workers’ physical and mental health. Negative impacts may be prevented through education and training.
