Abstract

The fund of the Ethnographic Museum Split holds numerous women's head coverings from localities within and beyond the current territory of the Republic of Croatia. This work focuses on počelice, traditional headwear from the areas of Livno and Kupres, preserved in the Collection of Textile from Bosnia and Herzegovina. As exceptional examples of women’s craftsmanship, these pieces predominantly entered the Museum during the first four decades of its operation (1912–1947) and will thus be interpreted in the context of its collecting policies at the time.
