Abstract

The article analyses the representation of the most
important socio-political events and the way in which
they are represented/recorded in the School Memorial
of the General Elementary School in Križevci. Based on
memorial records and documents, the author provides a
synthesis of the way in which certain socio-political
events, from the end of the First to the end of the Second
World War, influenced the work of the State Primary
School in Križevci. How the school reacted to certain
laws and regulations, how important national dates
were marked, and how some of the important national
events are described in the school memorial. The paper
concludes that, despite the self-censorship of the author
of the memorial, but also the censorship of the authorities,
it is possible to follow socio-political changes in
the First Yugoslavia, as well as the attitude of the citizens
of Križevci towards certain policies in the interwar
and war periods between 1918 and 1945.
