Abstract

Intensification is a process that, in addition to the reinforcing function, is connected with expressiveness and subjective attitudes. The paper analyzes adverbial intensifiers that increase the intensity characteristic of Polish and Croatian colloquial languages. We took into account Polish and Croatian intensifiers, which are mutually equivalent, and the analysis is carried out from a synchronic perspective. After the description of the motivation of adverbial intensifiers and their lexicalization, a comparison of the model of lexicographic description of adverbial intensifiers in Polish and Croatian dictionary sources follows. Comparative analysis made it possible to propose systematic and universalsolutions in the lexicographic description of intensifiers.
