Abstract

The article deals with the study of life satisfaction among police officers of the Osijek-Baranja Police Department. The aim of the study was to determine the general state of life satisfaction and the existence of deviations in relation to the research variables. A sample of police officers was surveyed according to the convenience sample model in organizational units on the day when the research was conducted in that unit, and ultimately the sample was N=429. The questionnaire consisted of two parts, namely questions of a sociodemographic nature (age, gender, education, gender of the police, etc.), while the measuring instrument used to assess life satisfaction was the Life Satisfaction Scale (Diener et al. 1985). The results showed that police officers are generally satisfied with life and that there are certain differences in relation to age, where older people are less satisfied, gender, where women are less satisfied, and that police officers who are religious and those who engage in some kind of sports activity are more satisfied. The results revealed may help in the decision to plan future research into the reasons for lower life satisfaction among the elderly and women, which will again, based on the results obtained, offer possible solutions to achieve optimal life satisfaction among all police officers.
