Sažetak

The issue of marriage was of great importance in the life of every noble and magnate family, as the conclusion of a marriage often led to alliances with other families. At the same time, marriage could also be the result of connections that already existed between families. The deliberate arrangement of marriages enabled territorial expansion, a characteristic feature of the noble and the magnate family of Kórógy, which was among the most prominent in the late Middle Ages within the Kingdom of Hungary-Croatia. Through both male and female lines, the family of Kórógy established marriage alliances with infl uential noble families such as the Moslavački, Voćinski, Nemetinski, Gorjanski, and Perényi families, as well as with the Péc and Báncsa clans. The choice of marriage partners refl ects the social and economic status of the family itself, as well as its political interests. Marriage alliances were not merely a matter of prestige, but also formed the basis for political cooperation between members of the family of Kórógy and the families with whom they were connected through marriage.
