Sažetak

The two monographs I discuss in this review essay feature impressive accounts of the key jurisprudential questions of the European Union constitutional order. Written by Martijn van den Brink (Leiden University) and Nik de Boer (University of Amsterdam), they stand out for their solid theoretical grounding and ambitious doctrinal approaches. Each author takes one judicial juggernaut – the Court of Justice of the EU and the German Federal Constitutional Court – and explores their relationship with their respective legislators, using concepts like legitimacy, authority, or institutional capacity as analytical yardsticks.
