Sažetak
The article is focused on a series of successful and popular theatre performances (“Catalonian“, 2018, “Flex“, 2019, “Process Kafka“, 2020) by Croatian theatre artist of the younger generation, Ivan Penović. When working on those performances, Penović, who has a degree in dramaturgy, takes over several creative positions (director, author of the written text or video) but develops performances with the help of the performers through procedures which connect a dramatized template or the written play with the elements of devising. Inspired by the practice of assemblage and its aesthetic and ecological implications, the text focuses on individual aspects of the original co-authorial creative process, which Penović practices with his permanent collaborators. Procedures such as co-creation of the linguistic text during rehearsals, intentional relying on memory during the reconstruction of the performance text or the use of the found, finished and rejected material are reflected in the flexibility of the performance within the fixed and repeatable dramaturgical composition, “meaningless“ scenic dialogues, “raw“ acting and disharmonious visual segment of the performance which is why the work of Ivan Penović is sometimes described with the syntagm “aesthetics of trash“ (B. Munjin).
