CORRUPTION AND COUNTERINSURGENCY FINANCING IN NIGERIA

Sažetak
This study investigates the persistent escalation of insurgency in Nigeria despite increased counterinsurgency funding, which has claimed over 350,000 lives due to Boko Haram. Despite substantial investments, a gap exists between financial allocation and operational performance. The research links corruption in counterinsurgency financing to insurgency escalation, as mismanagement and embezzlement weaken military and governance structures. Using evidence-based research methods, the study shows how corruption hinders efforts to address the insurgency, offering insights into the complex relationship between corruption, governance, and security challenges in northeastern Nigeria.
