Border units and border posts of the Yugoslav People’s Army in the Podravina region: organization, military–civil relations, and disintegration until 12 September 1991

Abstract
Based on original archival records of the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia, as well as memoir literature, periodicals, and scholarly works, this paper presents the organizational and personnel structure of the JNA border service and its activities in the Koprivnica–Đurđevac Podravina region from the Second World War until September 1991. The largest part of the study is devoted to the activities of JNA border units and eight Podravina border posts in the context of the disintegration of the Second Yugoslavia in 1990–1991, and, in this regard, the collapse of the entire JNA system, including its border service.
