Use of production resources in different slow-growing broiler systems under farm conditions

Sažetak
The aim of this study was to compare the use of key production resources in three slow-growing red broiler systems under farm conditions. A pasture group fed a fermented commercial feed mixture (T1), a pasture group fed the same commercial feed mixture in dry form (T2), and a stationary group fed the dry commercial feed mixture (T3) were compared. A production unit of 25 broilers was used as the common basis for comparison. Total commercial feed mixture use was 372.00 kg in T1, 444.75 kg in T2, and 498.75 kg in T3. Final broiler live weight per production unit was 106.95, 95.08, and 113.18 kg, respectively. Bedding use was 22.2 kg in both pasture groups and 162.6 kg in the stationary group, while each mobile pen used a total pasture area of 680 m² during the pasture phase. The estimated total labor input was 29.7–36.8 h in T1, 14.2–21.3 h in T2, and 18.2–25.3 h in T3. Compared with T2, T1 used 16.36% less commercial feed mixture and achieved a 12.48% greater final broiler live weight, but preparation of the fermented mixture required an additional 15.5 h of labor. This corresponded to a reduction of 4.69 kg of commercial feed mixture per additional hour of labor. The results indicate that the production system should be selected according to the resources available on the farm and its production objectives.
