Sažetak

Towards the end of the 17th century, after the Cretan War and on the eve of the Great Turkish War and the Morean War, the Franciscan Province of Bosnia Argentina was already divided into several internal factions, split over various issues regarding the governance of the province. Motivated by the defeat of the Ottoman army at Vienna in 1683 and anticipating the upcoming Provincial Chapter, the provincial of Bosnia Argentina, Friar Andrija Šipračić, began writing his work "Table of Ministers and Chapters..." Aware of the importance of the moment and of the processes that had marked the Province of Bosnia Argentina throughout the 17th century – namely, strong regionalisation and ideological stratification between the Franciscans from the Prikosavlje (Slavonia) region and those from Bosnia – Šipračić devoted most of his work to describing intra-Franciscan conflicts. In doing so, he uses the ideologeme Bošnjak (Turk. Boşnak), alongside the older ideologeme Bošnjanin.
This stratification was a direct consequence of the growing influence of the Diocese of Zagreb over the territory between the Drava and Sava Rivers during the 17th century and the revival of awareness of medieval Slavonia, which stimulated political and identity integration processes in the territories of Banovina Croatia and Slavonia. Identity integration processes across the entire area between the Drava River and the Adriatic Sea had already been underway for some time through the early Illyrian movement, in which the Bosnian Franciscans actively participated. In contrast, the disintegration process in the second half of the 17th century between the Bosnian and Slavonian Franciscans primarily concerned specific intra-Franciscan and intra-ecclesiastical issues.
However, within Friar Andrija Šipračić's narrative, one can discern the paradigmatic foundations upon which the Bosnian Franciscans operated, revealing interesting identity elements. Foremost, these were the sacralisation of the medieval Bosnian kingdom and the search for guarantees of survival within the Ottoman state. Thus, alongside the narrative of the kingdom, there emerged a narrative of the ahdname, leading to the emergence of the first elements of millet mentality. These described processes, together with the strongly present confessionalisation of identity, form a complex moment in the history of the premodern Croatian identity within the territory of present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina.
