Abstract
Adapted aquatics play a crucial role in the motor, psychological, and social development of children with disabilities. This paper provides a systematic review of the Sherrill Model of Fun and Success in Water, developed at Texas Woman's University. The model is based on a three-tier pre-beginner swimming concept comprising the levels "Explorer", "Advanced Explorer", and "Floater". Utilizing guided discovery and motor creativity, this study analyzes specific motor tasks, prop-based games, body shaping exercises, hydrodynamic principles of buoyancy and bobbing, and basic synchronized swimming skills. Furthermore, administrative and safety requirements, specific adaptations for individuals with amputations and spasticity, and medical contraindications are thoroughly discussed to guide practitioners in adapted physical activity.
