Abstract

The area of education has seen significant development in recent years. New approaches to engage students and encourage learning are constantly being created, and one of them includes Project-Based Assessment (PBA). Hence, this research investigates how project-based assessment promotes the development of 21st-century abilities by motivating students to apply information, improve critical thinking, collaborate, communicate effectively, and solve real-world problems through meaningful learning assignments. In order to gather the data, this study used a combination of two methodologies: quantitative and qualitative. The results of this study reveal that students usually thought project-based assessment was beneficial in fostering 21st-century skills. They especially appreciated the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges while also developing teamwork, communication, research, and adaptability skills. Nonetheless, students noted difficulties with time management, unequal group involvement, unclear instructions, and limited supervision.
