Sažetak

The issue of cooperation between school and family is today
one of the topical questions of pedagogical theory and praotice.
This relationship should be regarded as an inseparable part
of integral social relations - a more developed democracy could
to a much greater extent open up the school doors towards parents.
By studying different movements whose goals were to enable
greater participation of parents in public education, the author
presents the developing line of relations between school and
family from situations of complete neglect to conditions of partnership.
Successful cooperation and development of partnership
depends on the possibility of the parents' participation in work and
decision-making in the school. Croatia has made the first steps in
that direction. However, in addition to legal solutions, conditions
have to be ensured for establishing a partnership between the
school and family.
