PRIVATIZATION IN THE STABILIZATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF CROATIAN ECONOMY

Sažetak
The transition to market economy is the basic problem of all
post-socialist countries, including Croatia. The basic lever oftransition
is privatization of socialist state and social ownership. However, the
path leading to the latter is more complex and longlasting than was
expected. The author presents the basic problems of privatization in
the world. A comparative review of privatization in other post-socialist
countries is given, while particularly emphasized are the specific
qualities and experiences of privatization in Croatia. The author also
subjects to critical evaluation what has so far been achieved within
this process. Finally, presented are certain considerations as how to
continue the process of privatization and also how to make it the least
time and money-consuming.
