Sažetak

This article examines the acceptance of social values important for
the global process of modernization and post-modernization, as well
as the influence of religiousness on the acceptance of the values mentioned. It has resulted from the analysis of the results of experiential sociological research carried out in 1999 on the representative - stratified, proportional and area sample of the size
of 705 'adult inhabitants of the town of Zagreb and the Zagrebačka
County within the Religious changes and values in Croatian society
project. Social and religious changes in Croatian society are being examined in the context of a process of transition from the pre-modern into a modern society. Its image within this process is
being essentially determined by the structure of the value-related
orientation. And this structure is differentiated by the status of
individual values and the significance they have for the overall picture
of the society within changed social paradigm. Mostly accepted values
with the intrinsic universal significance showed to lie deeply in the
eonsciousness as they make the essence of the man's integrity as
the human being: they show a strong interiorized moral conscience
which can be considered a significant finding in terms of the society's
structure of values. As for dimension of religiousness in the examination of values, the findings show that this dimension does not
significantly effect the acceptance or refusal of the values offered. These findings might point to the conclusion that social values, designated to be essential for the formation of the network of values
within the process of modernization and post-modernization, contain
the layers of universal significance for the mankind: they are
contained in the world's great religions and are eon-formable in terms
of meaning of their ethical values. The values were examined by the
method of ranks of acceptance, through factor and index analyses
respectively, as well as by five independent variables, by means of
the variance analysis and the multiple regression analysis.
