Review of test "M Serija" and EPQ used for selecting candidates for police academy

The purpose of this study was to show basic central and dispersion parameters of applied instruments M-Serija and EPQ on 244 candidates for study at the Police Academy. We also checked usefulness of obtained data in the situation of selection. The results of our subjects on the test M-Serija were compared with the results of earlier studies of Z. Bujas (1967) and of Krković and Kolesarić (1972) , concerned to the sex and type of completed high school. Statistically significant differences (p<0.01) were found between the shown, time distanced studies. Their size was proportional with the time distance, showing that accessible standards are out of date.
The results obtained on EPQ showed that applied technique was "transparent" in situation of selection. The same was confirmed by negative and statistically significant correlations (p<0.01) between scale L and scales P and N.
Based on these results we concluded on the necessity of caution in evaluation of results obtained on EPQ and M-Serija in situation of selection, because of the "transparent" techniques, or out of date accessible standards.
