Sažetak
The aim of this experiment was to determine the possible role of working and long-term memory as predictors of reading speed and text comprehension. 58 psychology students participated in the experiment in which they took a reading-span test and a general knowledge test on the selected topic, then read the text on the same topic, and afterwards answered some questions about the text they have read. The results showed no significant correlation between working and long-term memory and reading speed. There was also no significant correlation between working memory and text comprehension. However, a significant correlation was found between the complete measure of long-term memory and text comprehension, as well as between the results on the retrieval-type questions and text comprehension.
