The influence of estrogen on spatial ability, perceptual speed and fine motor abilities
Ivana Hromatko
Sažetak
The aim of this research was to determine whether there are any differences in measures of spatial ability, perceptual speed and fine motor skills, depending on the hormonal status of participants. 32 female students with normal cycles were tested twice: once during the menstrual phase (when estrogen levels are lowest) and once during the late follicular phase (when estrogen levels are hightest) of the menstrual cycle. Statistically significant differences were obtained in measures of perceptual speed and fine motor skills. As expected, the results were highter during the late follicular, than during the menstrual phase of the cycle. Contrary to our expectations (we expected higher results during the menstrual phase) , there was no statistically significant difference in the spatial ability test.
