Sažetak
The demands of contemporary society and interviews with employees have shown that university teaching needs to be changed. Hence the attempt to study the methods of teaching which encourage students to think critically and actively participate in higher education, so that educated professionals would be able to better satisfy the requirements asked of them during their work carreers, but also in their lives in general. In the world there is a growing number of teachers who are being trained to encourage critical thinking and active learning, and such education has started in Croatia too, under the title «Active Learning and Critical Thinking in Higher Education Teaching» in the organisation of the Forum for the Freedom of Education. Teaching that relies upon the method of critical thinking and active learning applies the so-called ERR framework discussed in the article. In this paper the authors present the teaching of a lesson within the course «Delinquency and Social Work» at the Department of Social Work in Zagreb during which the method of teaching for critical thinking and active learning was used. This way of teaching has produced excellent results.
