Sažetak

The work is based on theoretical analysis of the term and concept cyber culture, the relation between religion, technology and modern sociocultural conditions of western societies, as well as on the empirical analysis of biogenetic and cybernetic concepts of human. In the empirical sense, the work is based on the results of the research on different aspects of biotechonology, bioethics and cyber culture, which was conducted during April and July 2005 on a convenient sample of students of the University of Zagreb (N=492). The research used the survey method on the students of the first and fourth year of five Faculties (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, Catholic Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Medicine). The main hypothesis is that biogenetic and cybergenetic concepts of human will be accepted more by the students of technical, scientific and medical areas than the students of social and humanistic areas. The working hypothesis is based on the expected positive correlation between biogenetic and cybergenetic concepts of human and those religious orientations which are marked by a distance from institutionalized religiosity, i.e. we expect a negative correlation between stated concepts of human and institutionalized religiosity. Results have confirmed the main hypothesis, however the working hypothesis was not confirmed.
