Sažetak
The influence of ionic strength and the molecular weight of polyacrylic acid (PAA) on its adsorption and the structure of adsorbed polymer layer on SiO2 surface in the presence NaCl and CaCl2 was measured. Thickness of PAA adsorption layers on the SiO2 surface in these two electrolytes were also measured as well as the expansion coefficient (α) of PAA in CaCl2. The increase of: ionic strength, pH, and the polymer molecular weight causes the increase of PAA adsorption layers thickness. However, PAA expansion coefficient increases with the increase of pH and the polymer molecular weight, but decreases with the increase of ionic strength. The influence of a type of electrolyte and its ionic strength on the zeta potential of SiO2 in the presence of polyacrylic acid (PAA) was measured. As it was observed, the zeta potential is much lower in CaCl2 solution in comparison to the zeta potential in NaCl.
