Sažetak
One of the key issues of modern world is the issue of identity. Religious affiliation and religiousness are therefore one of the most frequently mentioned fields of influence on the constitution and presentation of identity. The work is based on the results of empiric research 'Modernisation and Identity of the Croatian Society', carried out during the year 2004, using individual polling on the representative sample of the population of the republic of Croatia (N=1202). On the basis of the result of this research, and through different theoretical approaches, the author analyses the issue of religious identity and socio-environemental orientations. The basic hypothesis in this paper is that in the modern Croatian society there prevails a traditional dimension of religious identity that is based, above all, on making statements on confesional affiliation, believing in fundamental principles of the dominant religion (Christianity) and the religious practice. The relation between dimensions of religious identity and socio-environemntal orientations shows the connection of a traditional dimension of religious identity and anthropocentrism and naturalism. Such circumstances suggest that from the standpoint of this dimension of religious identity there is no clear differentiation of the mentioned socio-environmental orientations. There is also established a connection between sexually moral dimension of religious identity and anthropocentrism, and socially ascetic dimension and naturalism.
