Tanja Šupe ; Osnovna škola Pećine

Sažetak

Early intervention as a model of diagnostic-advisory monitoring early child development and support for families with small children (1), is based on evidence from the theory of the plastic brain in early childhood. Speaking about the necessity of early intervention for children with visual impairment, we must take into account several important factors that influence the development of a child with visual impairment, One is the modality of learning in these children in the first place. Children with visual impairment have significantly different ways of learning about phenomena from their environment. we present the activities included in an early intervention program conducted within the Department for children with visual impairment at PS Pecine in Rijeka. Beside reviews of certain activities, the reasons for initiating a program of that kind are given. The needs of children with visual impairment and their families are given, and to what extent the program can meet them. At the end there are guidelines for future work that may improve their quality.
