Sažetak

The book of four gospels from Split (Evangeliarium Spalatense), which
has been keeping in st. Dujam's cathedral tresaury, it is the oldest
manuscripts written on the parchment that is kept in Yugoslavia. Writer
proves that it is about late-ancient codex which is written in the second
half or just before the end of 6th century. A thing of halfunciale(s) in
Split's codex it can not be explained in other way than as a transcription
of a certain older codex, which had to have exceptional significance.
Because, the oldest preserved Gospels in Latin in version of st. Jerome
Vulgate are written with halfunciale(s). In the second of 7th century
The Book of Gospels we find in Split. Though, in principle, there is
possibil'ity that at that time it was brought from Italy, it seems more
likely that it was brought in Diocletian's palace immediately from Solin,
perhaps with martyr's romains.
