Abstract

ln Shakespeare translation there are mainly three important factors which a serious translator must take into consideration: l) semantics, concerned with meaning and sense of words and phrases, 2) metaphor, concerned with imagery (metaphors, similes), and 3) rhythm, also concerned with meter and rhyme. In forming the translator's correlative, music or rhythm of Shakespeare sounds is as important as meaning, expressed and suggested by words, or imagery, consisting of metaphors or similes. If music of Shakespeare's words is not adequately rendered in translation, the translation as a whole would be deficient and incomplete, unsatisfactory.
