Abstract

The syntheses, spectral characterization, and crystal structures of 12-(N-methylnitrilium)-monocarba-closo-dodecaborate and 12-(N-methylamidinium)-monocarba-closo-dodecaborate ylides
are reported. The carborate anion behaves as an inert and non-conjugating negative
charge.
