Abstract
In the context of the modern socio-economic movements, in theory appears the term ''new economy'', which is based on knowledge as a strategic resource – an economy based on knowledge. Coming to conclusion, according to the thesis of classical and modern economists, it can be said that responsible knowledge, a knowledge society about true global and regional problems of society are starting assumption not only for the reform of the today’s economic theory and politics but also for the reform of the world economic order. Anyway, knowledge economy is reality and necessity in Europe, which comes also from the basic strategy of the EU for the next decade. However, a reasonable question is set: Where is Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the moment, in terms of global flows of knowledge? Going towards European family Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to develop a knowledge society and knowledge economy in the long run. In what way to create it and what model to- these are questions which we are trying to answer in this paper. The results of an extensive research which has been conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the goal of identifying key drivers of the knowledge economy and a proposition of the model for its development in the country have been presented in this paper.
